Of course, not everyone lives the way they would like to or the way they imagine. I myself have told myself that if I could choose where to live, I would prefer to live exactly as I like or as I wish; I would want to live as well as I possibly could. But sometimes, unfortunately, it’s just the way it is—you don’t have the money to support a family. I had just found a partner, and after three months we started living together; we shared a home. Yes, that’s how it was—we lived together, and my child from a previous relationship lived there too.But my partner doesn’t contribute any money to the household at all. You have no idea how much that hurt me. At first, I didn’t even bring it up. Because it seemed so strange to me to ask my new partner for money for housing. My friends tell me I should definitely ask him for money for housing. But I didn’t ask for it. I was really, really embarrassed, and in the end, I ended up in the red in my personal account and couldn’t pay any of my loans, so we got into a fight over it. We fought a lot. I confronted him about not giving me any money for rent. But he had told me before that he would contribute some money, only I kept putting off accepting it, and that’s how it came back to bite me. Simply put, when you live with someone and have moved in with them, I think you shouldn’t just split the costs down the middle—you should, for example, pay rent or electricity together and also share food expenses and so on. I think it’s perfectly normal for two people living together to share all the financial burdens; otherwise, it probably wouldn’t work. After all, it’s not exactly normal for just one person to support, say, an entire family or two people in a single household. I think housing costs and living expenses should always be split evenly. Unfortunately, though, that’s not the case in some families or households. Which is really a shame.
